Meeting on the anniversary of one of Jack the Ripper’s victims deaths with the only information being ‘meet outside Dirty Dicks pub opposite Liverpool Street Station at 9.30pm’, I was excited and a little apprehensive to be going on London’s only Jack the Ripper Ghost Tour.
I don’t want to give too much away but during the course of the evening wandering the streets of East London, I was transported back into the 19th century. We stopped off at many of the infamous Jack the Ripper sights where we spoke of the confirmed victims and the many suspected victims, the other potential murder suspects and of course we did a bit of ghost hunting! Spooky!
What I loved about this tour is the group was intimate as they limit the numbers so guests can have an interactive experience. It was very informal and relaxed; we even stopped off at the historic Ripper pub for a swift one! Our tour guide was very enthusiastic and passionate. Whilst I initially felt a little silly ghost hunting, this was a lot of fun and the group really got involved; so much so the tour of an hour and a half overran but our host made sure this was OK for everyone (we all happily agreed to continue!) and she even made sure we got our tubes home.
This was such a fantastic evening; I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to learn a bit of history, explore a part of East London whilst having some fun. Should you want to find out more check out Lantern Ghost Tours. They run many tours and with Halloween approaching, I can’t think of a better way to spend my evening.
